Second update: Police say a gun was recovered from the Tesla.
“The white car was speeding, so when we see one car, we know it’s an undercover car, we just know,” said Simpson. “No sirens, no lights, come on man.” On Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed Internal Affairs investigators are trying to determine if any BSO units were pursuing the Tesla before the crash. BSO added a gun was recovered from the Tesla.
Update: Police say drugs and alcohol are not suspected, suggesting there is more to the story.
Few details have been released yet to explain why a Tesla destroyed itself by crashing like an assassination missile into the side of a large SUV.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the three-vehicle rollover wreck near Northwest 27th Avenue and Sixth Street in unincorporated Broward County, at around 4 p.m., Sunday.
The impact sent a light colored Tesla and a black Dodge Durango involved into a nearby cemetery.
The front side of the Tesla was destroyed, and the windshield was blown out. The Durango sustained considerable side damage.
Given the extensive damage to the Tesla it likely ran a red light at high speed.
